Find Beltrami U.S. Marshals Holds

To find someone released from contract or local beds used for U.S. Marshals detainees, first identify which agency held the person at each stage. A U.S. Marshals hold on a Beltrami County record can point to federal pretrial detention or transport, not a permanent federal prison placement. The county custody record, federal court order, and receiving-agency status answer different parts of the release question. A person may leave a local bed under a court release order, transfer to another contract site, or later enter sentenced federal custody. Each route requires its own official record.

Beltrami U.S. Marshals Holds

“Contract/local beds used for U.S. Marshals detainees” describes a custody arrangement, not one named permanent facility in Beltrami County. The U.S. Marshals Service arranges federal pretrial detention, transport, and temporary placement. A person can therefore appear in a county or contract jail while the federal court and Marshals Service control the detention path. The local jail physically holds the person, but that does not turn the bed into a Federal Bureau of Prisons institution.

Beltrami’s official locator has displayed hold information, and archived county examples have included U.S. Marshal holds. A hold reason or agency is a routing clue. It does not prove a later federal sentence, a community release, or a move to BOP. The federal criminal case supplies the legal detention or release authority. The local admission and release record supplies the date and time Beltrami’s physical custody ended.

U.S. Marshals hold
A federal pretrial, transport, or other custody interest handled through the Marshals Service.
Contract bed
Space in a local or contract detention site used for a federal detainee.
Detention order
A federal court order directing that a defendant remain detained while the case proceeds.
Transfer
The end of custody at one site followed by custody at another site or agency.
BOP designation
Placement of a sentenced federal prisoner in the Federal Bureau of Prisons system.

Follow a Beltrami Federal Hold

Begin with the current Beltrami record, then follow the authority shown by its fields. The Beltrami County Inmate Locator is a live custody search. Its searchable inputs include last name, first name, gender, and birth year. A returned detail can show custody date, booking status, charges, court branch, bail, hold reason, and hold agency. Save those facts while the result remains available.

Jail phone: 218-333-4189

Use this contact only when the official Beltrami locator or booking record supports current custody at the county jail.

  1. Search the official county locator and match the person by name, birth information, booking facts, and court details. Record the hold agency exactly as shown.
  2. Use the federal case number when available. Read the magistrate judge’s detention, release, or conditions order and the later docket entries.
  3. Check whether the county record ended in release or transfer. Ask Beltrami Sheriff’s Records for the public admission date, release date and time, releasing authority, type, and destination if public.
  4. If a sentence and BOP designation followed, move to the BOP Inmate Locator. Do not search BOP as proof of an earlier Marshals pretrial release.
  5. Pair the custody record with the federal order. If they differ, keep the exact wording and dates and ask the agencies to explain their own records.

A missing county result is ambiguous. It can reflect release, transfer, a spelling mismatch, data timing, or a record change. Beltrami County publishes no separate historical list of U.S. Marshals releases. The U.S. Marshals Service also has no public nationwide historical released-detainee locator comparable to the BOP search.

Read Beltrami Federal Hold Fields

The county detail is most useful when each field is treated as an identity or routing fact. A charge does not name the final destination. Bail or bond information may belong to one case while another hold still prevents release. A federal hold can remain after a state or county condition is resolved. The actual custody outcome must be confirmed with the release record and the federal case.

Beltrami fieldWhat it helps establishWhat it does not prove
Custody dateWhen the displayed county custody period beganThe date federal detention began elsewhere
Booking statusThe current local booking state shown by the locatorA final federal release result
Hold agencyWhich outside authority may claim custodyThat the person entered a permanent federal prison
Hold reasonWhy local release may not end all custodyThe full terms of a federal court order
Court branch or caseA lead for locating the controlling docketThe exact physical departure time
Bail or fineA condition displayed for the identified matterThat every other hold has been cleared

Important: Leaving the Beltrami roster can mark a handoff to the Marshals Service or another contract site. It is not automatic proof of release to the community.

Beltrami’s old static custody page is not a substitute. It carries a fixed historical timestamp and is not a rolling federal-release archive. Use the live locator for current facts, then use the records and court routes for a past event.

Beltrami Federal Release Orders

The federal docket is the central legal record for a Marshals detainee. It can show the complaint or indictment, initial appearance, detention hearing, magistrate judge’s detention or release order, conditions, later bond changes, plea, sentence, and commitment. The U.S. Attorney’s District of Minnesota criminal procedure overview explains the general federal case sequence. The actual individual docket and orders control.

A release order authorizes release subject to its terms. It may require conditions, a custodian, supervision, or another step before departure. A detention order keeps federal authority in place even if the person moves between local beds. Neither order by itself states when Beltrami staff completed the physical handoff. Compare it with the county release log and, where available, the receiving site’s record.

Search by the federal case number whenever possible. Names can vary, and a county booking label may not match the federal docket style. Record the judge, order date, conditions, and any later modification. If the order says release but the county locator still shows custody, allow for processing and check for other warrants or holds. If the county record ends but the detention order remains active, investigate transfer rather than assuming the order was ignored.

Note: A federal release order explains legal authority, while the Beltrami release record supplies the local exit date and custody handoff.

Beltrami Hold Release Records

The Beltrami Sheriff’s Records Office is the direct source for the county portion of a U.S. Marshals custody event. It processes public-data requests for sheriff records. Ask for the public and segregable admission and release fields tied to the identified booking rather than requesting an entire inmate file. Protected medical, financial, victim, security, and unrelated personal data can be redacted.

Use the form linked from the official Records Office page. Identify the person by full name, date of birth or booking number, approximate custody dates, and federal case number. Ask for admission date and time, release date and time, releasing authority, release type, public destination, booking number, and public hold information. Request a legal citation for any withheld field.

Under Minnesota’s Government Data Practices Act, inspection of public data is free at reasonable times and places. Authorized actual copy costs can apply. The county’s reviewed materials did not establish a flat price for every release record, so request a cost estimate before chargeable copies. The Beltrami County released inmate lookup explains how to pair that record with county, court, state, and federal status sources.

When Beltrami Holds Reach BOP

The Federal Bureau of Prisons is the correct locator only after the custody path supports sentenced federal imprisonment or BOP designation. A person held pretrial for the Marshals Service may never appear as a BOP prisoner. Conversely, someone sentenced and transferred into BOP can appear in the BOP Inmate Locator with a register number, age, race, sex, Release Date, and Location.

BOP explains that a past release date with “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” and no institution means the person is no longer in BOP custody. That statement concerns BOP only. It does not establish release from local, state, immigration, or supervision authority. A future date is projected, and “Unknown” means BOP cannot yet state the term or date. The BOP locator records guide also notes that recalculation can affect a future date.

This separation prevents a common mistake. A blank BOP search cannot prove that a Beltrami Marshals detainee was released. The person may still be pretrial, in transport, in a contract bed, or outside BOP’s sentenced-prisoner scope.

Federal Notices for Beltrami Holds

The Department of Justice Victim Notification System is not a public detainee locator. Access is for eligible registered victims connected to a federal case. The District of Minnesota Victim/Witness assistance page is the official route for that program and case-related services. A public user cannot substitute VNS for a federal docket or release record.

Minnesota VINE has a different scope. It can provide county-jail custody-change notices while a person is in a participating Minnesota county jail, including Beltrami. VINE does not turn a Marshals detainee into a state prisoner and does not provide the missing nationwide USMS history. If the person later enters BOP, use the BOP locator. If the person merely moves to another Marshals contract bed, use the federal case and responsible custody contacts.

Notification and verification should remain separate. A notice can prompt a new check, but the court order and source-agency record explain the event. Keep the date, time, facility, and exact status language from each source. When a notice and a record appear to conflict, ask each agency about its own entry rather than merging the two into an unsupported conclusion.

Confirm a Beltrami Marshals Release

The strongest release confirmation uses two records. First, obtain the county or contract site’s release date, time, type, and destination. Second, read the federal court order or receiving-agency status that explains what followed. A community release should align with the court’s authority. A transfer should align with continued federal detention, a later BOP result, or another documented custody site.

Use the chronology, not a single missing name. Start with the Beltrami custody date and hold agency. Add the federal detention or release order. Then add the local release entry, any receiving-site record, a BOP designation if one exists, and the final federal status. This record chain distinguishes a county handoff from a federal release and a BOP release from the end of all legal supervision.

No permanent public address or public walk-in records counter belongs to the facility-map label because the label covers changing contract or local beds. For the Beltrami segment, use the current jail and Sheriff’s Records Office. For the legal authority, use the District of Minnesota case. For sentenced custody, use BOP. Those routes match the actual system instead of inventing a single federal facility in Beltrami County.

Note: A U.S. Marshals hold is a custody-path marker; only the source records can show whether the next event was release, transfer, or BOP placement.
